It has lots of buttons and lights, and they can control pretty much the entire process from it. Caol Ila single malt is a very small proportion of their outturn - the bulk of their outturn is actually less peated malts, destined for blending. Caol Ila pride themselves on the amount of annual production they manage, and when the distillery was rebuilt from the ground up in the seventies, they went to great effort to automate as much of the process as possible.
